9 Tips for Great Sales Email Subject Lines

October 29, 2017 Jeremey Donovan

Here is a summary of a great new email subject line analysis from YesWare:

  1. Blank subject lines are very effective (but I find this to be sneaky so avoid)
  2. Avoid using subject lines with questions
  3. Avoid exclamation marks in subject lines
  4. Use “Re:” (legit replies only please; avoid doing this with first emails since too sneaky)
  5. Include numbers (though uplift is minor)
  6. Avoid greeting words in subject lines (ex: Hi, Hey)
  7. Avoid explicit event invite in subject lines (“invitation”, “webinar”, “join us”, …)
  8. Avoid urgency words in subject lines (“exclusive”, “last chance”, …)
  9. Use Title Case (caps on first letter of each word)
